On Saturday, July 21, let's come together to serve God by giving back to our community.
Many hands make light work: adults, youth, and children are invited!
Volunteers will go to Community Church Without Walls in the West End with backpacks and school supplies to fellowship with students and their families. A devotional time will be held after the supplies are distributed. Number of volunteers needed: 15-20.
Volunteers will spend time with fellow church members who can no longer worship inside Asbury's walls. Create opportunities for devotion and fellowship and help these members with light household duties. Number of volunteers needed: 6-8.
Volunteers will go to Birmingham's West End to tend the We Garden at Urban Ministry. From composting and pruning to harvesting fresh produce for market, join young adults in learning these essential life skills. Number of volunteers needed: 8-10.
Help Asbury spruce up its landscaping! Volunteers will trim back shrubbery in the Prayer Garden, clean up overgrowth on Prayer Mountain, and prepare an area near the 119 entrance for fall planting. Number of volunteers needed: 20-25.
Help the Asbury Food Pantry at Lee Branch Farmers Market. Some volunteers will man the booth promoting awareness and accepting donations. Others will run the kids market helping children make placemats. Number of volunteers needed: 10-15.
Volunteers will go to Church of the Reconciler, a United Methodist congregation serving the homeless of Birmingham, and clean various spaces of the building including the sanctuary, fellowship hall, and kitchen. Number of volunteers needed: 10-15.
Volunteers will help the maintenance and school staff complete various projects. Some volunteers will create bulletin-board and visual displays and others will work outside, spreading mulch and pine straw. Number of volunteers needed: 10-15.
