Small Groups

What are Small Groups?
Small Groups move people toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, helps individuals draw closer, and build supportive connections with others. Small groups are mini-communities within the church family where disciples are made, prayers shared and support given.
Groups averaging 6 to 12 people meet every week or every other week for Bible study, fellowship and prayer.

What do Small Groups do?
Small Groups are formed to study books of the Bible, explore special issues or address the needs of a specific group. The goal of each Small Group leader is to help members grow in Christ-like character through learning, loving one another and giving of themselves.

How can you get involved?
The best way is to sign-up or just visit one. You do not have to be a member of the church to participate.  If you would like to launch a new small group please contact Rev. Greg Foust at 271-9903 or gfoust@asburyonline.org.

DISCIPLE Bible Studies

Have you ever wished you really knew a lot more about the Bible?? Have you ever felt the Bible is like one huge, complex jig-saw puzzle??

After all, the Bible is all these different kinds of books… about all these different people… written by all those different authors… at different times… and under all kinds of different circumstances. Finding even the corner pieces to this puzzle can be confusing.

So try a DISCIPLE Bible Study. DISCIPLE was developed by the United Methodist Church to provide transformation, not just information. For over 25 years it has provided spiritual renewal for thousands of Christians and churches. It has been used in small groups at Asbury since our founding in 1986.

DISCIPLE I is a structured, disciplined, in-depth study that covers some 90% of the Bible in 1½ hour weekly sessions that uses readings, DVD presentation, small group discussions and reflections. By focusing on the central themes of the Bible, DISCIPLE I emphasizes wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. It draws on the work of pastors, seminary professors, and scholars to aid in Biblical understanding. Its purpose is to help us become better learners, believers, followers and servants.

After completing DISCIPLE I, you can take several other specific studies such as Genesis/Exodus, Luke/Acts, The Prophets, Paul, The Writings, John/Revelation, and Jesus in the Gospels.

If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free. - John 8:31-32
