Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Kip Laxson
The Rev. Dr. Kip Laxson is a native of Athens, Alabama. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University’s Divinity School in Nashville, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from The Episcopal School of Theology at The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. Kip has served successful pastorates at Fairview First UMC in Cullman, Toney UMC in Madison, Discovery UMC in Hoover, and The First United Methodist Church of Alabaster, Alabama. Before being appointed to Asbury, he was serving as the District Superintendent of the Southwest District in the North Alabama Conference.
His wife Tami is a second-grade teacher in the Hoover City School System. She is originally from Columbia, Missouri. Their family also includes their 21 year old daughter Kaitlyn, who is a Senior at Birmingham-Southern College, and an 18 year old son, Landon, who is a Freshman at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
