Each year, we prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, giving up of sinful habits, and spiritual discipline. That time, of course, is called Lent. And, it begins on Ash Wednesday.

We normally receive the imposition of ashes on our foreheads during Ash Wednesday worship to acknowledge our sinfulness before God and our human mortality.

This year’s Ash Wednesday’s worship on February 17 will be virtual (7:00 p.m.) to comply with social distancing guidelines. We’ve created Lenten Bags with containers of ashes, as well as devotionals, to help you and your family begin and celebrate the season of Lent in its entirety.

Didn’t reserve a bag? We have a few extra! Stop by the church office today, Wednesday, Feb. 17, during office hours, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 p.m., pick up your bag outside the sanctuary entrance.

New Adult Ministry Study

In Seven Words, Susan Robb looks at the seven last words of Christ on the cross through a lens that finds life and hope in his final sayings, while exploring each from a biblical and historical perspective. The book and video series brings a hopeful and contemplative take on the cross during the weeks of Lent.

Join Facilitator Eddie Harris for this six-week virtual study. The class begins on Wednesday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Lenten Devotional

During the Lenten Season, Pastor Kip and his wife Tami are starting their day by reading Walking in the Wilderness: Seeking God During Lent. If you are seeking a Lenten Devotional, he recommends this Upper Room title by Beth Richardson.
