Young at Heart group at Asbury promotes Christian Fellowship through once a month fellowship dinners featuring a night out meal with interesting programs. These programs may consist of musical solos or singing groups, informative speakers, Patriotic or gospel songs, usually by local talent, talks on memorable moments, and interesting book authors. An Annual Christmas Dinner at Greystone Country Club tops off the year’s end.
Each member contributes $1.50 per person per meeting to help support mission projects, which include adopting a family needing financial support, get well and sympathy cards to members as well as arranging meals for members hospitalized or experiencing an extended illness. We care about each other.
New members are welcome with membership given after attending one meeting and requesting active membership. Meetings are held in the Christian Life Center at 6:00 every second Monday of the month. Reservations are required for the meal at a cost of $7.00 per person. Once you become a member, someone will call you to take reservations.
There are group trips to interesting places frequently planned. This is a wonderful way to fellowship and get to know fellow Asbury Church members. Our name denotes “Young” and a minister once noted, “If you want to stay young, stay around young people, but if you want to grow old fast, try keeping up with them.” We are YOUNG at age 50 plus. We issue a challenge to keep up with us! Watch for announcements in the Church Bulletins on Sundays for a phone number to call to make a reservation.
